Power Cell

Power Cell

I was in Tahoka, Texas. That storm cell was bigger than a major city. It was so far away that I could hear no sound from it at all, in spite of the constant lightning. That’s what made me stop the car. I had never seen lightning go constantly for that long. When it lit up, it almost resembled a mushroom cloud.

I waited far too long to take a long exposure. It started out much closer to me. I began by trying to get some video footage of it. A cop pulled up to see if I needed help. we both chatted a while, in complete awe of what we were seeing. All the while, the storm was heading away from me as fast as possible. Zoom in to see the detail of the storm and its lightning. I posted the wide shot because of all the colors that showed up in the long exposure. Just look at all that green grass! See those stars that are lines instead of points? That’s really how far they move through the sky in just half a minute.
